Rapids sign Oshawa Generals draft pick

The French River Rapids are excited to announce the signing of Hunter Brazier of Val Caron, Ontario. Hunter was recently drafted in the 9th Round by the Oshawa Generals of the OHL.

Hunter comes to the Rapids from the Sudbury Wolves Minor Midget AAA program where he was captain and leader of his successful team. He also played 5 games last season with the Rapids as an AP.

“Hunter is a dedicated and committed hockey player who we believe will have a significant upside” announced Head Coach Shawn Frappier.  “We feel Hunter will contribute right away as a rookie player and play an important role with the Rapids. I’m extremely happy that we could add a player of Hunters’ skill to our roster”

Hunter recently represented Northern Ontario in the OHL Cup and the Gold Cup.

“I watched Hunter closely when he played for us last year”, stated Rapids President Paul Frustaglio, “I am very impressed with his hockey smarts, quick acceleration, tremendous work ethic plus a great attitude. Hunter will be a great addition to our hockey club and I’m extremely happy that we could get a top player like Hunter.”

“I’m am very happy to be playing for the Rapids this season,” stated Brazier, “The team is young and very talented, so I am excited to be part of it. I made friends on the team from last year, and it’s a great group of guys on and off the ice.  I am also eager to play for Coach Frappier, as I know he’s a great teacher and coach from his coaching here in Sudbury. I am also honoured to be associated with junior hockey legend Sherry Bassin, as he always puts together winning teams. The final important factor was playing in a community where both my parents came from. The French River is a great community with passionate fans. I can’t wait for the season to start!”

“Hunter is a smart and intelligent hockey player who is a strong skater. I have spoken to many scouts who are very high on him.” stated Rapids Director of Hockey Operations Sherry Bassin, “we are excited to have Hunter join our Jr A club. Hunter is a dedicated and committed hockey player who we believe will have a significant upside with our hockey club.”
