TIMMINS, Ont. – Harry Clark and Kaeden McArther had two goals each in a 6-2 Timmins Rock win over the visiting French River Rapids in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at the McIntyre Arena Friday night.
However, the battle of the top and bottom teams in the NOJHL East was far from a cakewalk for the Rock, as the Rapids kept things close until the third period when the Rock scored four times for the win.
The Rock got on the board when Kaeden McArthur, who just returned this week from an upper-body injury, got his 19th as Nolan Ring fed the big forward trucking down the right side and his quick shot beat Brady Dyer to give the Rock a 1-0 at 16:41 of the first.
Early in the second, the Rapids found the equalizer on an innocent-looking 2 on 2. Rapids forward Michael Christopoulos took a quick shot from the right faceoff circled that squeaked by Rock goaltender Dryden Riley
Just under a minute later, Harry Clark scored on a nice wraparound effort to make it 2-1 Rock.
Later in the second, the Rapids evened things up on a 2-on-1 as Dominic Bzdyl converted a nice feed from Matthew Stringer which made it 2-2 at 12:31.
However, the dangerous Mason Svarich gave the home side the lead on another odd-man rush as his shot went off the stick of Dyer and into the net at 10:47 which made it 3-2 Rock.
Just over two minutes later, McArthur netted his second and 20th of the campaign on another nice quick pass in the slot from Ring which made it 4-2 at 12:52.
The Rock added on when Lucas Lowe converted on a 5 on 3 power play at 17:25 for a 5-2 lead.-
Then, still on the power play, Harry Clark added another goal with the extra man which made it 6-2.
