Voodoos rock Rapids
NOELVILLE, Ont. – Dylan D’Agostino racked up his fourth multi-goal game in his past eight outings to help propel the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League-leading Powassan Voodoos to a 9-0 decision over the French River Rapids Wednesday night at Noelville Arena.
Powassan got off to a solid start in this one grabbing a 2-0 lead after one period of play on markers from Tyson Gilmour and Parker Bowman.
The Voodoos then took off in the middle frame tacking on six more, including a pair from D’Agostino, to blow it open.
Tyler Gervais-Rolfe, Andy Baker’s NOJHL-best 41st, Bowman, via the power play, and Gary Mantz at even strength were the other marksmen in the stanza.
Up a man in the third, Gervais-Rolfe added his second of the evening and 16th overall at 4:37 to round out the scoring.
Baker, Mantz and Dayton Murray supplied two assists apiece for the winners.
A total of 13 Powassan skaters recorded at least a point in the one-sided triumph.
Andrew Suriano handled all 28 shots he faced to post his second shutout of the season for Powassan.
Evan Peltier started for French River and suffered the loss allowing six on 42 attempts while Simon Wood turned aside 27 of 30 in relief.
