NOELVILLE, ON – Brant Romaniuk scored twice to lead the visiting Timmins Rock to a 5-2 over the French River Rapids at the Noelville Arena on Saturday night.
The Rock’s Jack Anderson got going quickly with a pair of early goals less than 2 minutes apart to get the visitors out to the lead before the game was three minutes old.
Liam Wells added to the Rock lead with a power play goal at the 15 minute mark as the Rock took a 3-0 lead into the dressing room after one period.
The Rapids responded early in second as Cameron Jansa converted for his 9th on a power play to make it 3-1.
But the Rock replied less than 30 seconds later was Brant Romaniuk put home his 11th to make it 4-1 at 1:27 of the second period.
Just over 4 minutes later Romaniuk found the back of the net for his second.
Close to 13 minutes in Jansa scored his second of the game for the hometown Rapids which made it 5-2 Rock after 40 minutes.
The setback is the Rapids 13th straight loss.
With Saturday’s win, the Rock improve to 29-11-2-0 on the year while the Rapids sink to 8-32-1-0.
