Cavaliere posts 2nd straight shutout as Voodoos victorious vs. Rapids
NOELVILLE, Ont. – The Powassan Voodoos got a pair of goals from Michael Silveri and a 25-save shutout courtesy of Mario Cavaliere to help them blank the French River Rapids 7-0 Saturday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Noelville Arena.
The visiting Voodoos took early control of the contest notching a trio of first period tallies by Nicky Grose, Silveri and Daniel Golba to go up by three after 20 minutes.
Special teams allowed Powassan to put the game away in the middle session as they struck three times on the power play as part of a four-goal stanza.
Jake Staples, Daniel Walker and Silveri’s second of the night accounted for the man advantage markers in the session while Alexi Rivet had one at even strength to round out the scoring in the contest.
Kyle Moore dished out three assists to aid the Voodoos offensive cause.
The shutout for Cavaliere was his second straight in NOJHL play after he blanked Iroquois Falls in his previous start.
Alec St-Georges was peppered with 48 shots against in defeat for French River.
