Wildcats double up Rapids 4-2

NOELVILLE, Ont. – The Elliot Lake Wildcats got goals from four different skaters to help them double up the French River Rapids 4-2 Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Noelville Arena.

Elliot Lake got off to a good start in the contest notching the game’s opening goal, via the power play, midway through the first period courtesy of Alec MacKenzie.

The Wildcats then extended their lead with 19 seconds left in the frame with Josef Kittelberger finding the back of the net.

Elliot Lake made it 3-0 near the seven-minute mark of the second as Artur Terchiyev supplied the eventual game-winner for the visitors.

French River got on the board at 16:58 of the second as Brennan Kelly completed the work of Justin Bernthal and Lucas Woolridge, who earned assists on the play.

Brandan Dumouchel brought the Rapids to within one at 9:17 of the third, but the Wildcats’ Liam Blais countered that two minutes later for some insurance and round out the night’s scoring.

Allan Menary made 23 saves to pick up the win in net for Elliot Lake.

Zach Hill faced 42 shots in a losing cause for French River.
