NOELVILLE, ON – The Iroquois Falls Storm scored four times in the third period and Andrew Cho scored a pair of shorthanded goals in the second period to pace the Iroquois Falls to a convincing 7-2 win over the French River Rapids in Noelville Friday night.
Storm got on the board in the second on a shorthanded 2 on 1 Andre Cho used a decoy and kept as he raced down the right wing and his shot beat Elijah Grant for a 1-0 lead for the visitors at 11:22 of the middle frame.
Then, Cho went to work again this time on a 5 on 3, he intercepted a pass and went in alone and beat Grant through the legs for his second shorthanded goal of the period and a 2-0 lead.
The Rapids AJ Burke got the home squad going with a tipped-in power play goal off a shot from Abram Snider for Burke’s first of the season to make it 2-1 at 16:44.
Later on a Storm 3-on-1 break, Brayden Hindman’s knuckled shot eluded Grant at 17:00 to make it 3-1 Storm after two.
That goal spelt the end of the night for Elijah Grant as he was replaced by Brady Dyer for the Rapids.
Early in the third, on a power play, Zach Stringer intercepted a clearing shot and walked in and beat Storm starter Connor Hatfield which cut it down to 3-2 for the visiting Storm.
The Storm restored the two-goal advantage when Max Jugnauth ripped a quick release on a nice pass from Patrice Lafontaine which made it 4-2. at 12:02
Then on a scramble in front of the Rapids net, Allan Watt chipped home his second of the season which made it 5-2 Storm.
The Storm added two more late on goals by Charlie Crump and former Rapid Matthew Rabideau netted his first of the season which made it 7-2.
With the victory, the Storm improved to 13-31 on the season while the Rapids, who are winless now in 16, move to 8-34-1-1.
