Rapids name Corey Bricknell new Head Coach

Sudbury, Ont. – May 13, 2019 – The French River Rapids Hockey Club of the Northern Ontario Jr. A Hockey League are excited to announce that Corey Bricknell will take over as Head Coach.

Corey was drafted in the OHL by the Newmarket Royals in the 92 draft. He was the 60th pick overall and went on to play 4 years with Newmarket and the Niagara Falls Thunder. Once he completed his OHL career, he played 6 years of professional hockey in the ECHL, UHL and WPHL. Upon completing his playing career, Corey then began a successful coaching career and has over 15 years of coaching experience at the Jr. “A”, OHL and Professional level. He has held positions as Head Coach/GM in the NOJHL, Assistant Coach in the OHL and most recently Head Coach in the Erste Liga League in Hungary. Corey has a strong track record of promoting players to the next level. He is an excellent communicator with a depth of knowledge and an intense love of the game.

“I’m very happy to have this opportunity to work with Paul and the French River Rapids organization” stated Bricknell. “Over the last two seasons French River has made big strides in turning their program around and I look forward to the challenge of getting the Rapids to the playoffs!”

The Rapids are also pleased to announce than Mr. Sherry Bassin, an iconic figure in the Canadian hockey community, will continue his role as team ambassador, advisor and assisting in player development.
