Rapids acquire elite netminder

The French River Rapids are very pleased to announce the signing of goalie Spencer Eschyschyn from Kamloops, British Columbia.

Spencer comes to the Rapids after a successful campaign in the SIJHL with the English River Miners Hockey Club.

Some of Spencer’s accomplishments in the 2016-2017 season include a team high 7 game winning streak with a .920 save percentage. He was also selected to attend the Team Canada West Junior A challenge selection camp.

“We took our time to find a high-quality goaltender who can lead us “stated Head Coach Ken Strong, “I spoke to several scouts who feel Spencer can really excel in the NOJHL. Once our due diligence was completed, we went out to trade for him.”

“We look forward to getting Spencer to camp” announced Rapids President Paul Frustaglio, “I have had several conversations with Spencer and he is very excited to accept the challenge to lead our revamped lineup.”

With this addition, the Rapids have really bolstered their D-zone for next year.

“We believe we have added another big piece to our defensive end”, stated Rapids Director of Hockey Operations Sherry Bassin, “We have been focused on rebuilding from the back end and I am very impressed with Spencer’s confidence and excitement to lead the Rapids this upcoming season.”

“I’m very excited to be joining the Rapids for what should be a breakout season stated Eschyschyn, “It’s going to be a lot of fun to see how far we can go with the new leadership group of Ken Strong and Sherry Bassin.”

This signing is another important part of the Rise of the Rapids.
