NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that the goaltending trio of Elijah Grant (French River Rapids); Gavin Disano (Blind River Beavers) and Kolton Bourret (Soo Thunderbirds) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending November 12.

ELIJAH GRANT, (G) FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS:
An exceptional week saw the 19-year-old Mooretown, Ont., product credited with 100-plus saves in winning both of his starts during the time frame.

Grant handled all but one shot in backstopping French River to a victory over Timmins Thursday, then followed that up by saving 55 more attempts in a triumph over Espanola Sunday.

He finished his week with a crisp 1.50 goals-against average along with a stellar save percentage of .973.

GAVIN DISANO, (G) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS: Coming within two minutes and 23 seconds of his second career NOJHL shutout, Disano still turned in a solid performance in collecting a road win at the Soo Eagles on Saturday.

The 20-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. made 35 stops in all to hand the Eagles just their third home ice setback, in regulation time, this season.

A veteran of 75 league appearances, Disano has won 44 of them, making nearly 2,000 saves in that span, which is the second-most among current active goaltenders.

KOLTON BOURRET, (G) SOO THUNDERBIRDS:
Making his lone start of the week, Bourret turned aside 33 of 35 in collecting a victory over league-leading Greater Sudbury, Saturday.

Having won each of his past seven games, the 18-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ont., leads all NOJHL netminders in both goals-against average and save percentage at 1.99 and .941 respectively.

Bourret is currently in Trenton, Ont., as part of NOJHL West, who along with NOJHL East, are gearing up to compete in the five-league Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge, which runs today, through Wednesday.
