Bowditch leads Iroquois Falls over French River

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Tanner Bowditch had a pair of power play goals and added three assists for a five-point night to help the Iroquois Falls Eskis defeat the French River Rapids 6-3 Saturday night in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at Jus Jordan Arena.

David Osborne’s team-leading 19th tally of the season gave the Eskis the lead 3:51 into the contest as he picked up a point in a seventh straight game for his side.

French River battled back to tie it 13 minutes later as Isaak Picken collected his first NOJHL goal.

The Rapids then went in front with 75 seconds left in the first as Tyler King connected for his fifth of the campaign.

Alex Mitsionis’ initial league marker tied it for Iroquois Falls early in the second before teammate Stuart Harley put the home side up by one at 6:52.

French River came back with the equalizer courtesy of Tyler McGregor, but the Eskis struck twice late thanks to Bowditch and Jacob Erwin to take a 5-3 lead through 40 minutes.

Bowditch then added some insurance 4:39 into the third as he rounded out the scoring with his second man advantage effort of the night to secure the victory.

Erwin and Marco Luciani dished out two assists each to aid the Iroquois Falls cause.

Shots on goal in the contest favoured the Eskis by a 43-36 margin with Josh Horner picking up the win and Zach Mills the loss.
