FRENCH RIVER – Jake Bond and Ryder Hill contributed four points apiece for the Blind River Beavers as part of a 5-2 triumph over the French River Rapids in a penalty-filled Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Sunday afternoon affair at Noelville Arena.
The Beavers began the scoring 16 minutes into the contest when Bond sent a rising shot from along the goal line that hit off the shoulder of Rapids’ netminder William Popik and bounced in.
Pulling even before the intermission, French River’s Noah Saye snagged a loose puck in the slot then spun and fired home the equalizer that eluded Blind River starter Ian Blair.
In the middle stanza, the visitors when back on top when Bond dropped a pass to Hill who darted around a defender on the left side, then wired a shot off the far post and in at 2:15.
Special teams saw Hill add another as his man advantage effort had him crank in a one-timer after being teed up by Camden Cowan.
Heading into the final frame, the Rapids drew closer when Joshua Cook connected just after a power play they were on had expired as he chipped in a backhand off a rebound put on target by Tristan Lavoie.
Regrouping, Bond banged in two quick goals a minute and a half apart to collect his initial NOJHL hat trick to help wrap-up the result.
His second of the game came when Hill took his time in containing a bouncing puck before putting it in front where Bond promptly buried it.
He then completed the scoring at 8:28 with Hill once again supplying the setup that saw Bond knock one in from the side of the crease to close it out.
