SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that goaltender Noah Beaulne, (Greater Sudbury Cubs), forward Mathieu Comeau, (Hearst Lumberjacks) and netminder Nicholas Tarantella (French River Rapids) have been named its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Sept. 29.
Noah Beaulne, (G) Greater Sudbury Cubs: Getting the nod in back-to-back starts, Beaulne won both of them, helping the Cubs continue their winning ways.
In 120 minutes of game action in the crease, the 20-year-old from Hanmer, Ont., allowed just two goals-against, while providing a sharp save percentage of .963, in collecting his initial two triumphs of the campaign.
Through 55 appearances, Beaulne now sits just one victory shy of 40 in his NOJHL career.
Mathieu Comeau, (F) Hearst Lumberjacks: In his lone contest last week, Comeau doled out a trio of primary assists in helping Hearst hand the Soo Thunderbirds their first defeat of the season.
Having turned 19 last week, the Hearst product now boasts a trio of three-point performances in as many outings in moving into a tie for third overall in NOJHL scoring.
Comeau has also reached the 100-assist plateau in his league career, which is the fifth-most in the league since the 2021-22 season.
Nicholas Tarantella, (G) French River Rapids: Making his NOJHL debut on Saturday, the 17-year-old rookie from Richmond Hill, Ont., backstopped the Rapids to their first win of 2024-25, a road result at Powassan.
In all, Tarantella was credited with 46 saves in the triumph, which is just two-off the season high in league play.
He’ll take a .939 save mark heading into the NOJHL Showcase, which goes Tuesday and Wednesday in Sudbury, that will see all 12 league-member clubs taking part.
