GALLERY: Timmins takes 6th straight with win over French River

TIMMINS, Ont. – Josh Dickson tallied twice while a five-goal outburst by his side in the second period sent the Timmins Rock to their sixth consecutive victory, a 9-1 triumph, over the French River Rapids in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League afternoon affair at McIntyre Arena.

An early power play helped Timmins open the scoring 6:42 into the contest with Dickson putting in his fourth of the season.

However, French River came right back and levelled the proceedings a mere 15 seconds later when Benjamin Naimool finished off a Ty Chambers feed as the two teams went to the intermission knotted at 1-1.

That Rapids marker snapped a streak by Rock netminder Vance Meyer at an impressive 157 minutes and 35 seconds of not allowing a goal.

Heading to the middle stanza, Dickson added his second of the afternoon and fifth overall 1:19 into the frame to put the home side back on top for good with the eventual game-winner.

The Rock then took a two-goal lead a few shifts later as Cameron Kosurko collected his fifth to extend the cushion.

They kept coming and added another just past the seven-minute mark of the session with Stewart Parnell adding to the offensive outburst.

Continuing to click, Timmins tacked another on a Josh Anderson man advantage effort to put his side up by four with half a game to play with Karter Renouf also getting into the action at 15:37.

The Rock added another early in the final frame thanks to Owen Shier before they picked up their third power play goal of the matinee off the stick of Riley Robitaille.

Special teams for Timmins finished off the scoring when Tyler Gilberds struck shorthanded to complete the one-sided result.

David Laroche dished out three assists in the triumph giving him points in all five games he has played since joining the team.

Meyer faced 14 shots in all to pick up the win with Sebastian Woods suffering the loss allowing six on 34 chances while Ben Montgomery stopped four of seven in third period relief.
