TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock used a well-balanced attack getting goals from four different skaters while Tyler Masternak turned aside all 17 shots he faced to record a 4-0 shutout victory over the French River Rapids Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at McIntyre Arena.
It took the hometown Rock just under two minutes to notch the lone marker they would require on this night as Riley Brosseau supplied the eventual game-winner at 1:51.
It stayed that way until the second stanza when Timmins tacked on two more tallies to extend their cushion.
A.J. Campbell’s first of the campaign made it 1-0 at 6:46 while teammate Matt Capisciolto also added his initial goal for his side before the frame was complete.
Darcy Haupt rounded out the scoring early in the third for the Rock as he too picked up his opening offensive effort to help secure the win.
Keegan McMullen doled out two assists to aid in the triumph by Timmins.
French River goaltender Kevin Donaghey faced 31 shots against in defeat for the Rapids
