Powassan blasts French River

NOELVILLE, Ont. – Gary Mantz had a goal and three assists as part of a big offensive barrage for the Powassan Voodoos as they went on the thump the French River Rapids 10-1 Friday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at Noelville Arena.

Powassan started strong grabbing an early 4-0 lead on markers from Parker Bowman, Ryan Bazzana, Cameron Moore and Andy Baker the final three coming on the power play.

Caleb Rich got on for French River with his seventh of the season at 15:04.

It was all Voodoos from there however as they struck three times in the second and third to finish off the romp.

Tyler Gervais-Rolfe, Baker and Mantz notched the tallies in the middle session while Gervais-Rolfe, Tyson Gilmour and Rhys Brown scored in the final frame.

Nick Campbell made 17 saves to pick up the decision for Powassan.

Scott Adams started for French River and suffered the loss in facing 50 shots in two periods of work while All Rogers saved seven of 10 in relief.
