Khull’s trio of tallies leads Beavers over Rapids
NOELVILLE, Ont. – Max Khull scored three times to help the Blind River Beavers skate to a 5-3 victory over the French River Rapids Friday night in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Noelville Arena.
An early power play allowed Khull to collect his first of the night as he scored during a man advantage opportunity at 3:47.
Teammate Mark Bastianello added his first NOJHL marker just over a minute later to put the visitors up by a pair early.
Up a man midway through the opening frame allowed French River to get on the board as Austin Hickner notched his second of the season.
Blind River got that back with 12 seconds left in the session when Zak Lambrecht scored for a fifth time early in the 2016-17 campaign.
Christian Gaudreau’s third 3:54 into the second brought the Rapids back to within one, but the Beavers’ Khull got that back a couple of shifts later.
Caleb Rich countered that for French River as supplied his fifth goal of the season at 7:25 to make it 4-3 after 40 minutes.
Khull then finished off his three-tally night with the lone offensive effort in the third at 5:51 to round out the scoring.
Haiden Karnick dished out two assists for the Beavers in the triumph while Kaden Hintz set-up all three Rapids’ scores.
Myles Hektor made 35 stops to record the win for Blind River as they improved to 4-1-0-0 overall.
