FRENCH RIVER – Christian Cicigoi turned aside all 44 shots he faced to record his second career shutout as the Powassan Voodoos went on to blank the French River Rapids 4-0 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Saturday at Noelville Arena.
A tight-checking first frame saw neither side score as the two sides went to the dressing room knotted at 0-0 after 20 minutes.
It remained scoreless until the back half of the second stanza when recently acquired Kyle Preston put the Voodoos in flight as his initial NOJHL tally made it 1-0 at 15:56 and proved to be the game-winner.
Building on that, Powassan added another before the session was complete Tomas Yachmenev buried a Cade Herd feed at 18:39.
The visitors then tacked on two more markers in the first half of the third to go up by four as Brett Shawana connected on the power play before David Campbell click at even strength to help seal the victory.
While Cicigoi picked up the win for the Voodoos, French River starter Marshall Frappier faced 37 attempts in defeat for the Rapids.
