ESPANOLA, Ont. – The French River Rapids picked up five assists from Stephen Calisti to help his side defeat the Espanola Express 8-3 Friday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at the Regional Recreation Complex.
French River got things going offensively 5:14 into the first frame as Jacob Romano picked up his 13th of the campaign.
The Rapids then went up by a pair near the midway point of the period with Austin Petrie notching his fifth marker for the club.
Action in the second stanza was free-wheeling with the two teams combining for seven goals, including four by French River.
Donny Schultz, Petrie, Alex Paul and Max Lightfoot each scored for the Rapids in the session while Makenzie MacMillan, Joel Grandbois and Logan Fennema countered for Espanola.
Calisti then capped off his big night by helping set-up Romano and Max Carbone in the third to conclude the night’s scoring.
Andrew Rocha made 25 saves to register the victory for French River.
Adam Scott started for the Express and suffered the loss allowing five against on 20 shots while Ryan Hale handled 13 of 16 in just over 30 minutes of relief for Espanola.
