Well-balanced Rock roll over Rapids

TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock used a well-balanced offensive attack Thursday evening getting goals from seven different skaters as they went on to defeat the French River Rapids 7-1 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at McIntyre Arena.

It took Timmins 76 seconds to open the night’s scoring as Tyler Romain beat French River netminder Scott Adams early in the contest.

The Rapids were quick to respond however as they got the equalizer less than two minutes later as Alex Goettlicker notched his first NOJHL marker off of assists from Jordan Picard and Christian Gaudreau to knot the affair at 1-1.

The Rock came back with the eventual game-winner however off the stick of Patrick Gazich to put the home side up for good at 14:42.

Timmins extended their cushion with a trio of tallies in the middle stanza to go up 5-1 after 40 minutes as Nicholas Hway, Jordan Rendle and Jacob Shankar all found the back of the net.

Action in the final frame saw the Rock put the game away on efforts from defencemen Spencer Segui and Nicholas Hautanen to wrap things up.

Shankar, Romain, Stewart Parnell and Cory Sprague all dished out two assists each to aid in the win for Timmins.

Al Rogers made 15 saves to record the win for the Rock while Adams faced 40 shots in defeat for French River.
