Timmins outlasts French River in high-scoring affair on Rendle’s big night

NOELVILLE, Ont. – Timmins Rock captain Jordan Rendle scored four times, including the game-winner, and helped set-up another as the Timmins Rock got past the French River Rapids 7-5 Saturday in a high-scoring Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League affair at Noelville Arena.

French River started strong in the contest as they took a 2-0 lead on tallies by Jordan Picard and affiliate Spencer Dupuis.

Timmins battled back before the first period was complete getting late markers, 72 seconds apart, from Rendle and Tyler Romain.

The Rock then outscored the Rapids in the middle stanza by netting four more with French River picking up two of their own.

Dean Kiriacou began the frame for the Rock with his fifth at 2:19 before Rendle added his second of the evening at 5:25.

Timmins came right back and got another on the next shift from Wayne Mathieu before the home side countered with goals courtesy of Brayden Crowe and Jacob Uridil 53 seconds apart.

Rendle then reached his hat trick at 15:58 to finish off the tally total in the frame.

Action in the third saw Rendle pick up his fourth of the evening and 35th overall at 6:25 before Eric Paquette’s first, which came shorthanded late, round out the scoring for French River.

Mathieu, Jared Hester and Cory Sprague supplied two assists apiece for Timmins in the triumph.

Al Rogers made 25 stops in the win for the Rock while Simon Wood faced 59 shots in defeat for the Rapids.
