Nat’s Calisti bolsters Rapids “D”

The French River Rapids are very pleased to announce the signing of Stephen Calisti.

Stephen comes to the Rapids from the GTHL Toronto Nationals AAA Midget program where he was a leader on his team and the anchor of their the powerplay.

The Nats were the best team in the GTHL and were the #1 ranked team in the province for the entire season.

“We watched Stephen quite a bit last year “, stated Head Coach Ken Strong, “I feel he was the best D-man on his team and a top 5 D-man in the league. Getting Stephen is another great move forward for the Rapids who have made many changes for the upcoming season.”

“Stephen had several Jr A offers”, announced Rapids President Paul Frustaglio, “However, he felt the Rapids were the best team to play for next year.  I’m extremely happy that we could get a top player like Stephen.”

The Rapids have really bolstered their blue line for next year with key additions like Calisti.

“We believe we have added another big presence on our blue line and he has a cannon of a shot”, stated Rapids Director of Hockey Operations Sherry Bassin. “I am very impressed with his shot choice and command of it from the blueline. Stephen will be a factor on our defense which I believe is key to any team’s success.”

“I’m am very happy to be playing for the Rapids this season,” stated Calisti. “The team is young and very talented, so I am excited to be part of it. I have some friends on the team so I have followed them closely for the past few months. I am pumped to be associated with Ken Strong and Sherry Bassin. This was an important part to my decision to play at French River, as these two guys are unreal hockey people”.

This signing is another important part of the Rise of the Rapids.
